Here is a list of many of our favorite locations!
But before you scroll down to see all our suggestions... there are some things you should keep into consideration when choosing the perfect location for your family pictures. Think of the type of pictures you want, the mood you are going for, the time of the year, weather, the distance from your home (distance is especially important when traveling with little ones) and of course, all the references from your Pinterest boards!
You can also consider your home as the perfect location for your family photos, especially for Fresh 48, newborn and baby sessions. We love shooting at our client's homes as much as we love shooting outdoors.

Spring Green Gardens: open field gardens, flowers and some water. One of our favorite locations close from home.
Huntley Meadows Park: forest, walkways and trails.
Old Town Alexandria: beautiful side streets, lots of alleys, waterfront, cobblestone walkways... so much to love from Old Town. Just keep in mind that if you want to take cute pictures at Old Town, we need to schedule early am to avoid the crowds!
Mount Vernon: pretty gardens, old trees, views of the Potomac river..Note: There is an admission fee of $18 for adults and $11 for kids between 6-11. Children younger than 5 can enter for free.
National Arboretum: forests, open fields, roman columns. Permit required.
Union Station: indoors, classic location for a more urban feel.
Smithsonian Castle: a castle in the middle of the national mall.
Hillwood Gardens: European-style garden, japanese-style garden, walkways. Admision fee required.
Theodore Roosevelt Island: pathways, flowers, bridge. Permit Required
National Mall and Monuments: permit required $$$.
Burke Lake Park: beautiful lake, woods and garden.
48 Fields: Milk barn, open fields that feature rolling hills, tall trees and grasses. Reservation must be made in advance.
Idalee Park: Beautiful gardens, big red barn, fences, trees and open fields.
Cylburn Arboretum: beautiful flowers ,old trees and 20 different gardens. A permit must be requested 7 days in advance.
Centennial Park: trails, open fields and water. Booking is required at least 7 days in advance and it has a fee of $45.
Brookside Gardens: rose garden, Japanese-style garden, woodland walks. Booking is required 7 days in advance and it has a cost of $45.
Glenview Mansion: limited availability. All sessions must be scheduled in advance.
Downtown Annapolis: cute streets and waterfront.
Manassas Battlefield: fences, fields, forest!
Mason Neck State Park: forest and old trees. $5 admission fee per car for instate visitors.
Viena / Great Falls
Meadowlark Botanical Gardens: botanical gardens. Permit required.
Great Falls Park: trails, forest, and waterfalls. Admission Fee required.
Burnside Farms: depending on the season you can find tulips, sunflowers, a pumpkin patch, etc. There is a small admission fee and sometimes getting tickets online in advance is required.
Seven Oaks Lavender Fields: ... lavender fields in bloom during the summer <3
McKee Beshers Wildlife Managemnet Area: Sunflower fields in bloom during the summer.
